Aviation American Gin Lemon Sorbet
Growing up I spent a lot of summers at my grandmother’s home, swimming in her pool and watching her tend her tomato plants. My favorite activity would always come a bit later in the day when she would ask for my help with making fresh lemon sorbet. Nothing was more satisfying than that cold, fruity treat melting in my mouth on a hot summer day. As an adult now, I have come to reinvent her recipe and make the sorbet a little more exciting with the addition of Aviation American Gin and dried lavender. If you have an ice cream maker this is a must have lemon sorbet recipe. See below.
Zest of 2 lemons
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 T dried lavender
¾ cup lemon juice
¼ cup Aviation American Gin
½ cup sparkling water
In a saucepan, combine the lemon zest, water, sugar and dried lavender. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. Cool. Add lemon juice, gin and sparkling water. Stir. Pour into an ice cream maker and follow manufacturer’s instructions. Enjoy!
